Episode 366 — First Entry

My name is Barnabas Collins.

Redundant, perhaps, but should I suffer from amnesia, as has the new governess, a reminder of my proper name might prove a necessity.  The carriage transporting her overturned, killing all save her.  I have no idea what the fashion is from whence she came, but I must make a note to visit before Josette and I marry.  Even in Martinique, I rarely saw the indecent display of ankle, let alone calf, as she displayed.  (This bears further investigation in the next month, and pardon my licentiousness in admitting as much.) In any event, the shock from the accident has left her quite deluded, having even confused her into thinking her name Victoria Winters.  Stranger still is her resemblance to my beloved Josette.  The resemblance is not physical nor in voice, but somehow resides at a deeper level.  Dearest Sarah has shown an odd prescience, for she has drawn a portrait resembling her that indeed mirrors her in many regards.  Forbes (The Eel) was on hand for the event of her fainting, and I can only hope that Doctor Thornton might minister to her before he lays hands.  My intervention in such a case might prove essential.

Wow, I can’t believe this is really happening. I did a spit take when I read “Forbes (The Eel)”.
